18 across
The tree lay across the path.
- bridge across the river- across the street
- go across the street
- stand across the roadCHOICE OF WORDS:(1.) Across указывает на движение с одной стороны на противоположную или на пребывание на противоположной стороне: the bus stops just across the road остановка автобуса на той стороне. В некоторых контекстах предлоги across и over взаимозаменимы: over/across the river на противоположном берегу реки. Словосочетаниям смотреть через очки, пройти через ворота, влезть через окно, дорога идёт через красивую местность соответствуют английские сочетания только с предлогом through: to look through the glasses, to go through the gates, to climb through the window, the road runs through some beautiful country side. (2.) Предлог over многозначен и имеет значение "поверх чего-либо", которое может соответствовать русскому через, поверх: to jump over the fence перепрыгнуть/перемахнуть через забор; to jump over the stream перепрыгнуть через ручей -
